Name:
Michele
How long have you been at Worth Ave. Group?
2 and ½ yrs.
What is the best part about your job?
I love the company, flexibility, and coworkers
Most challenging call you’ve ever received on a claim?
I had a gentleman that was working on the Twin Towers and his phone fell from his pocket to the rubble below. He was hanging in scaffolding and didn’t know how he would retrieve it, as we need to have the damaged item for coverage. I talked him through it, and he was able to locate some pieces of his phone. It was hard for me because he was doing such good, important work, and I really wanted to cover the claim. I was just happy in the end to be able to help him.
Name the most unusual type of call you’ve received?
This is most likely my favorite claim of all time! A devastated mom called in because her daughter had gone to a party the before and had apparently had too much to drink. She was driven home, and when she awoke the following morning, found poop all over her room. Several of her fellow party goers had literally pooped all over her room, clothes, and computer. Well, we replaced the unit, as it was considered a bio hazard. It still makes me laugh to this day to think about it.
Most common call/reason for claim?
The device was dropped
Do you know right from the start if you think someone is trying to falsify a claim?
Sometimes it is very easy to detect fraud, but other times it comes through verifying receipts and police reports. It is amazing the lengths some people will go to play off the situation once they have been busted.
Are you an Apple Fan, Android Fan?
Apple!! All Apple baby!!
Do you have the insurance for you and your family?
Of course! Through this job, I see how important it is!
Have you ever used the “should’ve had insurance” to your friends & family on an item Worth Ave. Group insures?
I use this daily! I have actually sold several policies to bystanders that have witnessed a drop and heard me say that. It is really a no brainer when you have expensive electronics!
We all have them, so what is your “15 Minutes of Fame”?
My day is filled with them. :)
If you were had to choose between losing your wallet or your smartphone, which would you chose?
Sheesh that’s tough! I would have to go with my phone though. Even though lost items are not covered our policies. Can’t I just choose a finger over both of these?
