2014 FBI Crime Statistics Released 09/25/2015

In its annual Uniform Crime Reporting Program., the FBI released its crime statistics for the year 2014. The Good News was that the amount of burglary committed in 2014 dropped ten percent from the previous year. The Bad News was that even with that drop, nationally we experienced an estimated 8,277,829 property crimes.The report indicated that:

• Collectively, victims of personal property crimes (excluding arson) suffered losses calculated at an estimated $14.3 billion in 2014.
• The arrest rate for personal property crime was 490.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.

So you can clearly see that personal property theft is still very much alive and well, with or without people having adequate renters insurance to protect them.
