CES 2017 (formally known as the Consumer Electronic Show) is in full swing this week and has, undoubtedly, brought to light some exciting new gadgets hitting the market in 2017. With that said, the digital camera industry has been booming over the past couple of years and 2017 promises to be another big year for updated technology and exciting new features! In the following blog, we have taken a look at some of the recently announced products from five of the biggest digital camera distributors today and some of the most talked about rumors that avid photographers will be paying attention too as the year progresses.

Another important rumor links Sony to using a full frame RGBW sensor in its future Sony A7S II. For those wondering what the RGBW sensor is, essentially, the sensor will increase the brightness in images by 32% and decrease color noise by 78%. For the rest of us, in layman’s terms, it will take really GREAT pictures!


• Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II – This camera includes a 20.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens as well as a 3-inch LCD.
• IXUS 190 & IXUS 185 – Both cameras contain a DIGIC 4+ image processor and a 20 megapixel CCD image sensor. They are also both classified as “point-and-shoot” cameras.
• PowerShot SX430 IS – This contains a 45x wide zoom lens, which is perfect for landscape photos! Much like the aforementioned cameras, it contains a DIGIC 4+ image processor and a 20 megapixel CCD image sensor. Unlike the IXUS 190 and IXUS 185, though, it includes with Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity for sharing files.
There are no set dates of release or announced pricing for the above cameras as of this blog posting.
